Kyu-exams
At Budo Gouweleeuw, we organise exams twice a year to earn a new belt or slip. Youth members up to 12 years old can participate every time and always earn a new slip or belt. From age 13 onwards, we generally work per belt. This means that you no longer take exams twice a year, but only when you are ready for a new belt. Therefore, for a belt exam from age 13 onwards, you need permission from your teacher*. Wondering what you need to study for the next belt? Take a good look at the exam requirements below, ask your teacher, and start practicing!

Exam Requirements
The exam requirements for each belt are listed on the exam forms below. We follow the JBN kyu exam guidelines. Always check the requirements for the next belt, even if you are taking an exam for a slip.** So, if a child has a white belt with a yellow slip, check the yellow belt requirements. If you have an orange belt and want to earn a green belt, check the green belt requirements.
